Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 7-21-2004:

Larry R. Amos, 67, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2004 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

He was born in Indianola and grew up on a farm south of town. He farmed with his father and brother on the Amos Hereford Farm until June of 1976, when he went to work for the Indianola Community School District as a custodian at Irving Elementary School. He retired in 1994. He was active in 4-H, FFA and showing cattle at the County and State Fairs. He was a member of Chapel of Faith Church in Indianola.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne of Indianola; son, Rick (Barbara) of Shawnee, KS; daughters, Diane Amos of Des Moines and Marcy (Darcy) Hoch of Milo; brother, Charles (Thelma) Amos of Indianola; grandchildren, Sarah Amos and Lance and Kole Hoch; and aunt and uncle, Frieda and Gilbert Caviness of Indianola. He was preceded in death by parents, Charles and Mildred Amos and in-laws, Fred and Marguerite Balzer.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 23 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to Warren County Fair, Chapel of Faith or Christian Opportunity Center.
