Leora Kathleen "Kathy" Schooler, 57, of Lacona died of pancreatic cancer Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at Mercy Medical Center. Services were held Sept. 17 at Palmyra Episcopal Church, with burial at Palmyra Cemetery.

Mrs. Schooler was born in Summerset and had lived in Palmyra before moving to Lacona 28 years ago. She was a housekeeping and laundry supervisor at Westview Care Center in Indianola and a member of Lacona United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, crafts and cooking.

Survivors include her husband, Phil; two daughters, Lynn Kaldenberg of New Virginia and Lea Ann Beck of Lacona; two brothers, Albert Allen of Hartford and R. Wayne Allen of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Carol Boggs of Winterset; and six grandchildren.

Richardson Funeral Home in Carlisle handled arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lacona Fire and Rescue, Lacona United Methodist Church or the Westview Care Activity Fund.
