Mrs. Verna Ceola Macumber, a resident of Madison county most of her life, died last Wednesday, April 2 in Des Moines. She was 88 years of age.

Mrs. Macumber was born near Peru April 17, 1880, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Deardorff. Her life was spent in Madison county except for the last
15 years in Des Moines.

Her husband Elwood Macumber preceded her in death as also did a daughter Frances and a son Morris. Her sister Mrs. Nora Beeler died last Friday at Gary, Ind.

Surviving are two sons, Robert Macumber of Lorimor and Rolland Macumber of Macon, Mo., a daughter Mrs. Marian Carlson of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held from the Unity Lutheran church in Des Moines where she was a member. Burial was made in Clark cemetery in Madison county.
