James Herman Konrad, 84, of Melcher-Dallas died of a heart ailment Wednesday at home. Services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, of which he was a member, with burial at the church cemetery.

Mr. Konrad was born in Rosemont and had lived in the Melcher-Dallas area many years. He retired from Firestone, and was an Army veteran of World War ll and a member of the Melcher-Dallas American Legion and United Rubber Workers in Des Moines.

Survivors include his wife, Mae; two daughters, Emily Davis and Kathy Clark, both of Melcher-Dallas; four sons, James Jr. of Indianola, Kevin of Des Moines and William and Richard, both of Melcher-Dallas; and two bothers, Lester and Edwin, both of Knoxville.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. today at Mosher Funeral Home in Melcher-Dallas, where the family will be present for a 7 p.m. vigil service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Melcher-Dallas rescue Unit.
