Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 7-10-2007:

Mildred Aretta (Stanger) Miner was born May 2, 1914 in Hannibal, MO. to Earl and Stella (Myers) Stanger.

Mildred passed away on July 7, 2007 at Westview Care Center, but had lived at Legacy House in Indianola for three and a half years. Mildred loved her family and God and was very devoted to them throughout her ninety-three years of life.

Mildred had many interests in life. She was an avid reader, delicious cook, and loved to do all kinds of fancy work. Over a span of forty years, Mildred loved going to Minnesota to fish with her husband, her sons, granddaughters and friends.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Ted of forty-seven years, who passed away in 1977, her parents, two brothers, Hollis and Robert Stanger and a sister, Imogene Windoffer.

Mildred is survived by her sons, Charles (Arlene) Miner, Bob (Bonnie) Miner, grandchildren Marlene (Kerry) Lester, Marie (Kelly) Burzette, Beth Dittmer all of Indianola, Becky Miner (Eric Christiansen) of West Des Moines; great grandchildren, Keith Lester of Des Moines, Matthew Ginder (Karisa Labertew) of West Des Moines, Brennan Ginder, Ben Burzette, Tasha Miner and Jesse Dittmer all of Indianola; two brothers, Melvin of Missouri and Eugene (Eileen) of Des Moines and sister Gladys Hammon of Quincy, IL and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held 3 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 10 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to greet friends.

Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 11 in the Cambria Cemetery, Cambria, IA.

Memorials may be sent to the First Baptist Church in Indianola or the Indianola Public Library.
