Orville Bruce Nelson, 56, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2008 at the Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines after battling cancer. A family visitation will be held Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Milo. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Orville was born on November 11, 1952 in Des Moines to Clyde and Doris Nelson. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970 and then served in the U.S. Army from March 1971 to October 1972. He worked for Meadow Gold Ice Cream for several years and then went into construction. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and mushrooming. Orville always had a good sense of humor and enjoyed practical jokes. He was the best grandpa; he loved being with his grandchildren and his family.

He is survived by his children: Willie (Nicki) Nelson of Milo, and Jenny (Jerrod) Manser of Lacona; five grandchildren: Kole and Brach Manser, Payton, Cade, and Kenzie Nelson; and siblings: Mary Stamper, Robert, Donnie, Dennis, and James Nelson.
