William F. "Bill" Botkin

Bill Botkin, also referred to as Dad, Pappa and Botkin from friends and relatives, age 61, of Roach, Missouri, departed this life on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Bill was born June 14, 1951 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Murray and Virginia (Sperow) Botkin.

He was united in marriage January 11, 1983 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Karen Ashmore, and together they shared the past 29 years of marriage until his death.

Bill graduated from Indianola High School, Indianola, Iowa, in 1969. He went on to graduate from Simpson College in 1973 and continued to live in the Indianola area for over 50 years. He retired from McAninch, working as a project superintendent for over 30 years. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed boating, fishing, music, and tinkering around the house. Bill had a huge personality and he loved spending time with his family. One of his favorite things to do was talk on the phone with his two year old granddaughter Aubrey. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying sports of all kinds, but his love for the Iowa Hawkeyes took first place.

Bill is survived by his loving wife Karen, of the home; two daughters, Emily Walter and husband, Matthew, of Lake in the Hills, Illinois and Christa Botkin of Roach, Missouri; one sister Brenda Davitt of Indianola, Iowa; mother-in-law Irolene Ashmore; brother and sister-in-law David and Beth Ashmore; brother and sister-in-law Charles and Marsha Williams; and one granddaughter Aubrey Walter; a niece and nephew Ellie and Ely Ladd; along with several other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial donations are suggested the American Heart Association

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, November 20, 2012, from 1 to 4 p.m. at Lake Valley Country Club in Camdenton, Missouri.

Arrangements have been placed under the care of Hedges-Scott Funeral Home, Camdenton, Missouri.
