Funeral services for Joann Hoch, 78, will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 9, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., at the church on Wednesday with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials to Hospice of Central Iowa. Joann was born September 26, 1930, in Creston, IA, to Jake and Stella McElroy. She graduated from Milo High School in 1948, and then earned a degree in Elementary Education from Ottumwa Heights. She was married to Jim Hoch in Milo on June 9, 1952.
Joann passed away at home on July 6, 2009. She was preceded in death by her, son Rodney Hoch; and her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; her children, Gerald (Penny) Hoch of Pella, John (Jacque) Hoch of Knoxville, Roselie (Dan) Kennedy of Knoxville, and Marlin (Amy) Hoch of Dallas; nine grandchildren, Scott, Terry, Candra, Philip, Kyle, Jason, Jessie, Jay, and Ben; eight great- grandchildren; and siblings, Irma (Homer) Ware of Freeport, IL, Eldon (Joan) McElroy of Indianola, and Carolyn (Tom) Weaver of Cedarville, IL.
