Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 2-28-2008:

James "Jim" Franklin Laffoon passed away on Monday, February 25 at 6:40 p.m. at Norwalk Nursing and Rehab Center.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2008 at Hamilton's Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines.

The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Glendale Cemetery.

Jim was born on December 3, 1932 in Milo, IA. To Ica and Edwin Laffoon. Jim was employed by Automatique Vending Co. until health issues made retirement necessary in 1985. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching NASCAR races and listening to country music.

Jim is survived by his wife, Opal of Ankeny; children, Rick (Vicki) Laffoon of Carlisle, Roger (Jonine) Laffoon of Des Moines, and Russell (Grace) Laffoon of Carlisle, Marta (Chester) Procyk of Norwalk, Tammy (Jeff) Philipp of Buda, TX.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and his four legged friend named Hope, his sister, Ruth "Sis" Truman of Utah. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers; Bob, Shorty and Paul and one son, Randy.
