Delbert Grant Gordon, 88, died January 8, 2009, at Heritage Manor.

Delbert lived in Newton since 1990 coming from Gerold MO. and California. Delbert was born and grew up in Indianola, IA. He served in the US Army during WWII where he received both a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sandyville Cemetery in Sandyville, Iowa; Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Peterson Funeral Home in Indianola. Military honors will be held at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

Delbert is survived by his sister-Betty Jo Carlson of Newton, two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Dolly; son, Dale; one grandchild; two sisters, Ruth Weidman and LaVon Boucher; and two brothers-in-law, Ray Boucher and Leonard Carlson.
