Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 11-9-2003:

Services for Bernard Dean Barger, 82, who died November 7, 2003, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 12, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial with military rites will be in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Indianola.

Bernard was born in Lacona, Iowa and graduated from Liberty Center High School. He served in the United States Army for 3 1/2 years during WWII. He worked for Warren County Oil retiring in 1984. Bernard enjoyed spending time in his garden, watching baseball on television and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Nora; son Greg (Judy) of New Braunfels, TX.; daughter Sonja (Tim) Brand of Indianola; grandchildren Brian (Marilyn), Eric (Debora) Barger, Jason and Jami Brand; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Radu of Ft. Wayne, IN., Mona Harvey of Wilmington, NC.; and brother Bill Barger of Sierra Vista, AZ.

Visitation will be held 3 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, November 11at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials can be made to Mercy Hospice in Johnston.
