Frances Helen Lyon was born December 26, 1924 in Marion County, Iowa the daughter of Oliver Vinson and Minnie (Buhman) Vinson.
She was raised in the Pleasantville area and graduated with the Pleasantville High School Class of 1943. In 1946 Frances was united in marriage to Avery Lyon. To this union six children were born. The couple raised their family on the farm. Through the years, Frances had worked for Clark's Grocery, Employer's Mutual Insurance and Van Dyne's Variety Store. She was active in the Red Hats, Saddle Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Coffee Club, Card Club, Food Pantry and the Church of Christ. Frances was a very faithful and devoted person to God and her family and friends.
Frances passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at the Pleasant Care Living Center at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 28 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Avery; two sons: Michael and Tommy and her siblings: Alice Woolsey; Darlene Bevans; Hazel Richards; Mary Burns; Arthur, Bob and Raymond Vinson; Edna Ferree, Esther Cleavland and Ruth Ann and Howard in infancy.
Those left to honor her memory include her children: Patty Collins of Pleasantville, Peggy Hotovec (Don) of Pleasantville, Bob Lyon (Teresa) of Pleasantville and Jack Lyon of Lacona; daughter-in-law, Ronda Lyon of Milo; brother, Jim Vinson of Indianola; 8 grandchildren: Bart, Tina, Cheri, Lisa, Brett, Tracy, Megan and Jeff and 8 great-grandchildren: Shane, Paige, Bailey, Gage, Lydia, Samuel, Abigail and Davin.

Funeral Services for Frances Lyon age 83 of Pleasantville will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Mason Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Pleasantville Cemetery.
She is survived by her children: Patty Collins of Pleasantville, Peggy Hotovec (Don) of Pleasantville, Bob Lyon (Teresa) of Pleasantville and Jack Lyon of Lacona; daughter- in-law, Ronda Lyon of Milo; brother, Jim Vinson of Indianola; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
There will be an open visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Mason Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday.
