Doris Evelyn Campbell passed away on August 26, 2012. Evelyn was born in Lucas County, Ia on Sept 27, 1921 to Myrtle Lee Bishop Skinner and James Henry Skinner. She graduated from Chariton High School in 1938. She earned her teaching certificate and taught school in one room school houses in Lucas County for four years. She was joined in marriage to William (Bill) J. Campbell on March 14, 1942 in Overland Park KS. She lived in several locations across the country to be near Bill while he was in military training, coming home to Chariton to live while he served in World War II. After the war, they moved to Indianola.

Evelyn worked at Simpson College for 27 years, most of those years as the manager of the college bookstore. She retired in 1985. In retirement she enjoyed family, friends, and traveling with her beloved Bill. She had been an active member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church, as a member of UPW, teaching Sunday School, and serving in many other capacities. Evelyn loved having company and was especially known for her homemade sugar cookies.

Evelyn is survived by her two children: Brad (Sue) Campbell, Beth (Kirk) Meints, four grandchildren: Emily Campbell, Jeremy Campbell, Preston (Becca) Saal, Bailey (David) Lanning and four great grandchildren: Carissa, Kendall, Jayce, and Campbell. She is also survived by one brother Wendell Skinner. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, brother Maurice, and sisters Twyla Woods and Audrey Larson.

Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday August 29 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, August 30 at Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Indianola. Cremation will follow services and burial of cremains will be in the Indianaola I.O.O.F. Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Presbyterian Church.
