Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 10-16-1988:

Harold Blackford, 68, of Pleasantville died of cancer Friday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Knoxville. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Mason Funeral Home. Burial with military rites will be in Pleasantville Cemetery.

Mr. Blackford was born in Warren County and had lived in Pleasantville for 26 years. He retired as manager of Coon Valley Gravel Co. 25 years ago. He was a member of the American Legion and was a World War II veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Helen; a daughter, Cinda Mott, and a son, Steve, both of Pleasantville; three stepsons, Don Banker of Pleasantville, Lonny Banker of Pleasant Hill and Dennis Banker of Sacramento, Calif.; three brothers, Jim of Indianola, Ed of St. Charles and Glenn of New Virginia; four sisters, Velma Young of New Virginia, Maxine Norlin and Marge Linsley, both of Indianola, and Bea Dutton of Osceola; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.
