Fern Marie Ball, 92, of Kansas City, formerly of Indianola, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Friday, August 3. A loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was born January 25, 1920, in Wayne County, IA. She graduated from Drake University with a degree in Education and went on to teach elementary school for 38 years, touching hundreds of lives with her gentle spirit. She is the daughter of James and Bertha Hawkins and had 13 brothers and sisters. She is survived in Kansas City by her husband of 67 years Raymond Ball; daughter, Janice Stephenson and husband Vince; granddaughter, Michelle Strong, her husband Roger and great-grandson, Torin, and in San Francisco by grandson, Eric Stephenson.

Services will be held at Indianola Christian Union Church in Indianola, IA, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 9. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Sharon Cemetery in Wayne County, IA. Online condolences to www.petersonfunerals.com .
