Fayrene Morgan, 71, of Martensdale died from complications of emphysema Saturday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will be at St. Charles Cemetery in St. Charles.

Mrs. Morgan was born in Denton, Texas, and had lived in St. Charles and Van Meter before moving to Martensdale four years ago. She had worked as a bookkeeper for Zales, Sears and Brenton Bank, and also was self-employed in the upholstery business.

She is survived by two sons, Dennis of St. Charles and Mark Sr. of Winterset; two daughters, LaVon Boucher of Sandyville and Charmene Perkins of Des Moines; two brothers, Frank Hines Jr. of Marne and Charles Hines of Des Moines; a sister, Essie Mae Leak of Kilgore, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
