“Charles Dunn dies at 76”

“Funeral services for Charles W. Dunn, 76, of rural Carlisle were held Saturday at the Overton Funeral Home, Intement was in the Wallace Cemetery near Wick.

Mr. Dunn died Wednesday (Oct. 5, 1983) at the emergency room at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines where he had been taken by Life Flight helicopter.

Born in Warren County near Martensdale, he had attended Martensdale public schools and graduated from Martensdale High School in 1925. He had farmed all his life and had lived in the Scotch Ridge farm community for the past 29 years. He was a member of the Scotch Ridge United Presbyrerian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothea, of rural Carlisle; one son, Charles M. Jr. of rural Carlisle; two brothers, Herbert Dunn of Indianola, Robert Dunn of Norwalk; one sister, Leitia Dewey of Des Moines; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.”
