“Will of Homer G. Grant, who died May 5, was filed for probate in county court Monday. Grant, according to the petition, held real estate in joint tenancy with his wife and a personal estate, including a business, the Hamm's Distributing company, valued at $20,000. Mrs. Grant has been named administrator to collect and is a devisee and legatee. Heirs at law are two daughters, Virginia Ruth Harvey and Patricia Kay, a minor, both living at the same address as Mrs. Grant, 1809 Twelfth Avenue.”

“Died At Colorado Home; Rev. Miller Officiated; Burial In Longview Cemetery In Osceola”

“Funeral services were conducted in the Methodist church in New Virginia Tuesday for Homer Grant who died at Greeley, Colo., Friday. The Rev. C.C. Miller officiated with burial in the Longview cemetery in Osceola. His obituary follows:

Homer Graham Grant, eldest son of Everett and Mary A. Grant, was born Jan. 26, 1906 [1905], on the Grant Homestead in Warren county, and died at his home in Greeley, Colo., on May 5, 1950, at the age of 45 years, 3 months, and 9 days.

Grant received his early education in the rural schools, was graduated from the New Virginia high school and attended Iowa State college at Ames and Des Moines University. He taught school for one year in Warren county. On Jan. 30, 1926, he was married to Dorothy Ida Jones of Osceola. To this union two daughters were born, Virginia Grant Harvey and Patricia Ray Grant, both of Greeley, Colo.

In 1927 he organized the Warren County Oil Company of Indianola and was manager for two years. Later he became manager of the Des Moines American Bottling Works. In 1947 he and his family moved to Greeley, Colo., where he established his own distributing business. He served two years on the board of directors of the Colorado Beer Distributors Association. He was also Vice-President of the Eldorado Development company, a member of the Greeley Chamber of Commerce, and the Weld County Business Men’s association.

Mr. Grant was a member of the First Presbyterian church, Lodge No. 809, B. P.O. Elks, Garden City Chapter No. 3, Order of the Eastern Star, Optimists Club where he served as youth chairman, and Warren Lodge No. 53, A. F. & A. M. of Indianola.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters; his son-in-law, Everett Grant of New Virginia; two sister, Mrs. Russell Spencer of Woodburn and Mrs. Glen Ogle of New Virginia; and a brother, Everett M. Grant of Downey, Calif.”

“Homer G. Grant Dies Suddenly”

“Homer G. Grant, 45, died as he was being admitted to the hospital Friday night. He suffered a heart attack earlier at his home, 1809 Twelfth avenue. Mr. Grant had an attack last fall, but had no reoccurence and was apparently in good health until Friday night’s fatal illiness.

Born Jan. 26, 1905, in New Virginia, Ia., Mr. Grant had lived in Greeley the past three years. He owned the Hamm’s Distributing company.

Mr. Grant was a member of the Greeley Elks club, Order of Eastern Star and Masonic lodge at Indianola, Ia., where he made his home before moving to Greeley.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Dorothy I. Grant; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Grant Harvey of Greeley and Patricia Kay Grant, at home; his father, Everett Grant of New Virginia; two sisters, Mrs. Glen Ogle of New Virginia and Mrs. Russell Spencer of Woodburn, Ia.; and a brother, Everett M. Grant of Downey, Calif.

His body will be in state at Macys drawing room from 1 until 3 o’clock Sunday afternoon Funeral services and interment will be at New Virginia, ia.”
