Robert Lee Parker, 84, of Indianola died Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Iowa Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter.
Bob was born in Prole and grew up in western Warren County. He served in the United States Army during WWII in the 41st Infantry in the South Pacific and Japan receiving the bronze star. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4123, American Legion Post #165, an accomplished building contractor, and a hobby farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Leona Parker; two brothers, Fred Sr. and Ned Parker; and one sister, Eleanor Parker.
He is survived by his wife, Anne; children, Bob Parker Jr. of Indianola, John Parker of Carlisle, Melinda Parker, Dennis Parker and Julie Daniel of Indianola; sisters, Lucille Pillow and Dorothy Warren; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Parker III, Joshua Parker, Dennis Parker Jr., Philip Parker, Lance Parker, Joe Daniel and Jesse Daniel; five granddaughters, Jodi Lynn DeMayo, Laura Murphy, Melissa Bierman, Deidre Brown and Kristin Coffelt; 24 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Pillow and Dorothy Warren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Leona Parker; two brothers, Fred Sr. and Ned Parker; and one sister, Eleanor Parker.
Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, February 7 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 5:30 to 8 p.m. to greet friends. Memorials may be given to Iowa Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter.
