Mrs. Epps Dead at 78
Funeral Services to Be Wednesday

Mrs. Martha M. Epps, 78, Des Moines resident 26 years, who has 11 children, 30 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren, died Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Grace King, 1335 Maple St.
Mrs. Epps was a member of Four Square Gospel church. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Dahlstrom’s funeral home. Burial will be in Laurel Hill cemetery.

Martha Melvina (Overton) Epps was born August 28, 1859 in Warren County, Iowa, departed from this earth Sept. 20, 1937 at the age of 78; married to Joel Frances Epps February 6, 1876, she became a widow three years ago Sept. 17. Fourteen children were born to Martha and Joel. Three of these died in infancy. Left to mourn are eleven surviving children who are: Albert Epps of Carlisle, Ia., Arthur, Harry, Paul, and Walter Epps of Des Moines, Mrs. Alta and Rena Douglas of Indianola, Ia., Mrs. Grace King, Mrs. Bessie Dennis, Mrs. Viola McDonald, and Mrs. Gladys Larsen of Des Moines. Also surviving are two sisters and four brothers, thirty grandchildren, and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Epps has been active in church work for many years and was a member of the Four-Square Gospel Church. She was a devoting and wonderful mother and wife.
