Thursday, August 28, 1913, p.6Obituary – Mrs. Ephraim Overton
Miss Julia Ann Lowe was born in Kentucky, March 4, 1835 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Luella Myers, August 20, 1913, aged 78 years, 5 months and 16 days.
She removed to Iowa in 1852 and in 1856 became the wife of Ephraim Overton, of this union were born 13 children, 6 daughters and 7 sons. The husband and six children have preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her loss three daughters, four sons, one sister and twenty-nine grandchildren.
Converted 50 years ago she became a member of the Christian church and later of the Baptist church of which she was a faithful member till the close of her long life.
Mrs. Overton’s life was one of extreme modesty but her ennobling Christian virtues shone brightly in her home. Her closing days, marked as they were by great suffering were more strongly marked by her great faith in Him who can comfort the dying and her one desire was that those about her should so live as to meet her over there. She was a loving mother; a faithful and loyal Christian woman whose example in life and in the last hours all may be proud to follow.
Card of Thanks: - The children of Mrs. Overton wish to extend heartfelt thanks to the many friends and neighbors who have brought help and comfort to them during the sickness and death of their beloved mother
