Eldon was born August 25, 1917 to Bert and Lizzy Nutting south of Milo on the family farm. He graduated from Milo High School in 1935, he then attend ISU and took classes in animal husbandry and ag business. He enlisted in the Army in September of 1941 and served at Ft. Stevens in Oregon with the Coastal Artillery until December of 1945. He married Jeannette Shook on March 20, 1943 in Creston, Iowa. They were blessed with two sons: Frank and Jon; and also with many fond memories of their time together.
Eldon was a Dairy Farmer west of Milo. He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking, even building the house and most of the furniture that he and his wife live in on the farm that has been in the family since 1854. He had a great dry sense of humor, always enjoying a chance to tease family and friends.
Eldon passed away January 5, 2010. He was preceded in death by his parents: Bert and Lizzy Nutting; and by his siblings: Evelyn Kunau, Herbert Nutting, Mabel Spear, and Kenneth Nutting.
Eldon is survived by his wife of 66 years Jeannette; sons: Frank (Lori) and Jon (Cathy) all of Milo; grandchildren: Samuel, Seth, Sarah, Joshua, and Emily.
