Mrs Frances Anna Sever

Frances Anna Sever, daughter of Andrew and Frances Chaney, born in Lima, Ohio, January 24, 1854, moved with her parents to southern Indiana, settling on a farm near New Madrid.

About 1871 they moved to West Liberty, Iowa, and soon after came to Hartford, where she has since resided.

March 1, 1874, she was united in marriage to Raymond Sever, who died July 26, 1888. To this union were born five children, three daughters and two sons as follows: Leslie G. Sever, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Myra Bell Putnam, of Hartford; Josephine Chaney Henry, of Coon Rapids; Gail Hamilton Spain, of Des Moines, and Wayne R. Sever, of Red Oak. All survive and were present at the funeral service. Besides her children she leaves ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren, all of whom are living. Several years ago she united with the Baptist church of Hartford and later on, March 29, 1908 she placed her membership with the Presbyterian church of Hartford and continued a faithful member to the time of her death. She died January 17, 1927, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Belle Putnam. The funeral service was held Tuesday at two o'clock in the Presbyterian church conducted by her pastor Rev. J.J. Hoffman. Burial in the Hartford cemetery.
