William R. Lyon of Indianola, was born March 30, 1896, in Pleasantville, moving to a farm near Indianola in 1908 with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jud Lyon.
On May 22, 1917 he joined Company A, dying May 3, 1918 in France from an enemy's machine gun bullet while on patrol duty in No Man's Land.
