KATHLEEN M. KIRVIN, Des Moines

Kathleen Marie Kirvin, age 46, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones, on the morning of Sunday, October 26, 2008 after a brief stay at Kavanagh Hospice House. She died of complications of a stroke.

Kathleen was born on March 15, 1962 in Des Moines to Honora (Harkin) and the late John Kirvin. She was the youngest daughter of seven children. Kathleen was a graduate of Dowling High School and Minneapolis Technical College. She will always be remembered for her love and devotion to her nieces and nephews. She loved to read, sew, laugh, spend time with her family, and co-workers at Nobbies.

Survivors include her mother, Honora; and six siblings, Cecelia Kirvin of Des Moines, Deanna (Dan) Kibler of Amana, Cynthia (Biff) Renner of Ankeny, Brian (Alene) Kirvin of Prole, Patricia (Greg) Umthun of Granger, and Tom (Connie) Kirvin of Des Moines. Her nieces and nephews include Christopher and Ryan Osborn; Mathew, Andrew, and Benjamin Umthun; Nicholas, Emily, and Megan Renner; Hannah Kirvin; Ashley and Jacob Kirvin; and Austin and Morgan Kibler.

The family will receive friends at Caldwell Raddatz Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, October 28 with a rosary at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Wednesday at St. Augustin Catholic Church, 545 42nd Street, Des Moines. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Cumming, IA.
