WILL E. SAYRE

Will E. Sayre was born in Barbour county, West Virginia, April 5, 1862, and died at his home in Indianola, Iowa, May 5, 1921.

He was the seventh child of ten children of Enoch and Elizabeth Sayre. He came to Iowa with his parents in 1864, settling in Virginia township, Warren county, where he grew to manhood. He was married to Mamie Clay at Jamison April 5, 1893. Three children were born to them, Raymond, who resides on the home place three miles west of New Virginia, Frank aged 19, and the baby girl, Mary Elizabeth, aged 9 years. All the family were present in the closing hours of his life. Also two sisters and one brother were present, to whom he spoke many words of comfort.

He united with the church early in life and was active in church work until his last illness. He was the teacher of a large Bible class, which bears his name, in the Methodist church at Indianola.

Of his father's family, two brothers died in infancy and two sisters died recently, Mary M. Howell of Dale, Oklahoma, and Mrs. H. G. Ludington of Inglewood, California. Two brothers remain, John of Billingham, Washington, and A. E. of Osceola, Iowa. Three sisters, Matilda Kellar of Crookston, Nebraska, Mrs Luella Sayre of Indianola, and Mrs. Minnie Anderson of New Virginia.

Funeral services were held in New Virginia Sunday afternoon. Interment was made in the New Virginia cemetery. The sorrowing members of the family have the sympathy of Clarke county friends, many of whom knew and loved Will E. Sayre
