December 31, 2004Ronald Dean Hite was born February 1, 1927 on the family farm near Liberty Center, Iowa a son of Harley Earl and Hallie May (Bumgarner) Hite. He attended Liberty Center Schools and on March 27, 1946 graduated from Iowa Barber College. He worked in Indianola at Bodkins Beauty and Barber Shop. He later owned and operated a barber shop in Lacona.
Ron was united in marriage with Dorothy Louise Wickett October 8, 1950 at the Methodist Parsonage in Boone, Iowa. On October 20th of that year he was drafted into the U. S. Army. He served until July 21, 1952. The couple then moved to Sheffield where he owned and operated Ron’s Barbershop for about 20 years.
Ron then worked as a salesman for Johnson Sanitary Products in Mason City. Dorothy died in 1983.
Ron married Doris Jean Marshall July 28, 1984 at the First United Methodist Church in Sheffield. He continued to work as a salesman, retiring in 1996.
Ron was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, currently serving as a trustee; formerly he was a member of the American Legion. Ron enjoyed tinkering with bicycles and lawn mowers. He liked fishing and watching the boats.
Ron died Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at his home, at the age of 77 years.
Ron is survived by his wife; Doris of Sheffield; her children: Mark (Bonnie) Marshall, Garner; Diane Marshall, Mason City; step grandchildren: Frank (Tracy) Marshall, Klemme; Jessica (Randy) Freerks, Aredale; 4 great grandchildren; sister-in-law: Edna (Harvey) Simmerman, Hubbard; a niece and 2 nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother and first wife.
