Indianola Herald - Sad Bereavement.

Ves Barnes and wife were called upon to consign to the silent tomb on Tuesday, their little twin boy, aged about 16 months. The child had been in good health until Sabbath evening, when he took something like colic, and Mr. and Mrs. Barnes concluded to give him some morphine. Taking a power that had been left for an adult, he divided it and gave the child about one quarter of it, supposing this would not be too much. The child at once became quiet, and the parents retired to bed, and slept soundly until about 2. A. M. Monday. At that time Mr. Barnes awaked and perceived at once that something was the matter with the child. A physician was at once sent for, and all possible means done to arouse the child, but in vain, and ere midday of Monday, the little one had ceased to breathe. The little fellow and his twin sister were sweet little ones, and the loss considering the circumstances under which it occurred, is a heavy one to the grief stricken parents.
