LAKE, CALVIN B. Dr., physician and surgeon; Indianola, was born in Erie county, New York, in 1826, and lived there until eleven years of age, and then removed to McHenry county, Illinois, and lived there until twenty years of age; he studied medicine and graduated from the Rush Medical College, Chicago, in class of 1848-9; he settled in Green county, Wis., and engaged in the practice of his profession; in 1854 he went overland to California, and was six months on the road; he returned in 1856, and settled in Fayette county, Iowa; he served in the late war as Surgeon of the 7th Iowa Infantry; he came to this county in 1866, and has practiced his profession successfully since that time; he is proprietor and publisher of the Advocate, the organ of the Greenback Party of the county; he married, first, Miss Clarrissa A. Morgan, in 1850; she was born in New York, and died in September, 1853; he married for his second wife, Mary P. Kennedy, in 1857; she was a native of Portage county, Ohio; they have two children: Harry C. and Otis K.
