FARLEY, MATTHEW, Allen Township, dealer in Agricultural Implements; P. O. Carlisle; born near Palmyra, in this county, Nov. 10, 1846, and is supposed to be the first white child born within the limits of the county; his parents came here in 1845. He enlisted in the late rebellion in Co. D, 15th Iowa Inf., and served till the close of the war; he was at the siege of Atlanta, Jonesboro, Marietta, Kennesaw Mountain, Savannah, Ga., and various skirmishes. He married Elizabeth J. Ellison, Sept. 17, 1867, a native of Indiana; they have four children: Edward, Guy, Mary L. and Laura.
