DEARTH, JACOB, farmer, West Washington Township, Sec. 34; P. O. Indianola; is a native of Ohio; born in the year 1831, and raised there till about twenty-two years of age, when he came to this State and settled in Polk county, and came from there to this county in 1872; he was married in the state of Ohio, in 1861, to Miss Sarah M. Sypher, of Wood county, that state; they have by this union two sons and one daughter: George M., Sylvester I., and Alice May; has held the office of township assessor for two terms; he was raised a farmer and has followed it as an occupation, and now owns a farm of 100 acres.
