HAROLD G. SMALLEY
Harold G. Smalley, farmer of Virginia township, was born April 15, 1918, the son of Alden and Selina Ann (Wickett) Smalley. He was educated in the schools of Virginia township, graduating from New Virginia High School in 1935.
On Nov. 22, 1939, Mr. Smalley married Ruby V. Minor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Minor. They were married in Leon by the Rev. Clarence Moore, who had been pastor of the Methodist church at New Virginia for eight years prior to that time. Mr. and Mrs. Smalley have three sons: Ervill, born Sept. 19, 1940; George Eugene, born Aug. 23, 1943; and Rodger Lee, born March 21, 1947.
After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Smalley remained loyal to the farm and immediately took up residence on a farm. In 1942 they moved to the well-equipped and neatly kept farm where they now live and own.
Mr. and Mrs. Smalley vote Republican. They all belong to the Methodist church. Mr. Smalley is a Mason, and they both belong to the Order of Eastern Star.— (A.E.S.) [written by Alden Edward Smalley]
