SETH F. SHENTON
Seth F. Shenton, printer and publisher,. was born at Guthrie Center Aug. 6, 1885, the son of David and Frances Elizabeth (Roxby) Shenton, his father being in the ministry. Seth F. Shenton graduated from the high school at Perry in 1903, and then attended Simpson college, where he graduated in 1907. On Nov. 19, 1912, Mr. Shenton married M. Grace Bailey, daughter of Levi D. and Permelia A. Bailey. Mrs. Shenton was born at Linden Oct. 25, 1885. Mr. and Mrs. Shenton became the parents of three children: Edna June (Nelson),. born Sept. 23, 1913; David Bailey, born June 11, 1918 (died Aug. 3, 1939), and Seth Francis Jr., born Nov. 13, 1923.
Mr. Shenton was connected with the Indianola Herald from 1906 to 1944. In 1915 he and Charles D. Miller purchased the plant and the partnership continued until 1937 when Mr. Miller retired. From 1937 to 1944 Mr. Shenton was publisher. Mr. Shenton is a member of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons; he is an honorary member of the Rotary club, serving as president at one time. Mr. Shen-ton has also served as a member of the Indianola school board, Indianola library board and Indianola park board. Politically he is a Republican, and states that he is a Protestant in his religious beliefs. Present address: 1109 East Whiting avenue, Fullerton, California.
