HOWARD L. ORMISTON
Dr. H. L. Ormiston, veterinarian of Indianola, was born at Brooklyn Nov. 24, 1923, the son of Leslie E. and Bernice E. Ormiston. He graduated from Brooklyn high school in 1941 and received the doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Iowa State College at Ames in 1946. On May 29, 1949, Dr. Ormiston married, Phyllis R. Andrew, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Andrew. Mrs. Ormiston was born at Indianola Sept. 4, 1928. Dr. and Mrs. Ormiston have one son, Scott H., born Oct. 7, 1950.
Dr. Ormiston is a member of the Indianola Rotary club, Masonic lodge, Farm House fraternity, A.V.M.A. and I.V.M.A. Mrs. Ormiston belongs to Delta Delta Delta sorority and Simpson guild. During World War II Dr. Ormiston served in the United States army.
After the above sketch was written Dr. Ormiston and his son Scott met tragic deaths Jan. 7, 1953, being overcome by carbon monoxide gas from a floor furnace recently installed in their home at 1108 North B street in Indianola. Mrs. Ormiston was found unconscious, but recovered. The double funeral of the doctor and his little son was held in the Methodist Church, of which Dr. and Mrs. Ormiston were active members. Dr. Ormiston began the practice of his profession in Warren County very shortly after his graduation from veterinary school and had a large practice.
