ELDON LEE OGAN
Eldon L. Ogan, vice-president of The Record and Tribune company and production manager of The Record-Herald and Indianola Tribune, was born March 31, 1901, on a farm near Palmyra, the son of Riley J. and Gertie (Botkin) Ogan. He graduated from Indianola high school in 1920 and Simpson college school of business in 1924.
Mr. Ogan married Esther Shaw, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shaw of Des Moines, on Nov. 24, 1927. She was born at Toledo, Iowa, May 22, 1905. Her father was Iowa state auditor 1914-20. The Ogans have four children: Mary Lou, born March 19, 1929; Constance Joan, born Dec. 16, 1930; Eldon Lee Jr., born June 23, 1934; Anne Elizabeth, born July 19, 1945.
After three and one-half years experience in the dry goods business, Mr. Ogan joined The Record and Tribune company in 1925. He became foreman in 1943 and, upon incorporation of the business in 1949, was elected vice-president and production manager.
Mr. Ogan is a Republican in politics; a Presbyterian in faith. He has held several positions in the Indianola First Presbyterian Church, presently serving as elder. He is vice-president of the Indianola Lions club and served as its secretary from 1946 to 1951. He has held several positions in the Boy Scout organization and is now a member of the executive board, Tall Corn area council. In 1952 he was presented with the Silver Beaver award for distinguished service to boyhood. This is one of the highest awards in scouting. Mr. Ogan has been home service chairman of the Warren County chapter of the American National Red Cross for two years. Mr. and Mrs. Ogan live at 301 North Jefferson.
