BERNARD JOHN LIPPOLD
Bernard John Lippold, hardware merchant and postmaster at St. Marys, was born there Nov. 6, 1878, the son of Ferdinand and Mary (Limke) Lippold. He married Elizabeth Anna Kleymann, daughter of Henry and Catherine Kleymann, May 27, 1903. Mrs. Lippold was born at Covington, Ky., Aug. 11, 1883. Children born to Mr. and Mrs. Lippold are Ayrill Joseph, March 19, 1904; Martian Ferdinand, March 31, 1906; Bernice Mary, July 22, 1908; Thomas Henry, Sept. 10, 1909; Lester Sergius, Sept. 21, 1911.
Mr. Lippold was hardware merchant and postmaster at St. Marys for 30 years and was succeeded by his son Thomas. He was a member of the Catholic church at St. Marys, and affiliated with the Knights of Columbus and the Iowa Hardware dealers. His political ties were with the Democratic Party. For many years Mr. Lippold was active in drives for the American Red Cross.
After a long illness, Mr. Lippold passed away Dec. 17, 1949.
