JOHN HENRY HAMM
John H. Hamm, farmer, who lives west of Martensdale, was born at Indianola Feb. 14, 1918. He is the son of John Henry and Sadie (Shafer) Hamm. He graduated from the Martensdale high school in 1935 and from Simpson college in 1940.
Oct. 4, 1941, Mr. Hamm married Edwina Madelina Cause, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Cause. Mrs. Hamm was born at Rocky Ford, Colo., July 18, 1918. Mr. and Mrs. Hamm have two children: John H. Hamm III, born April 26, 1943, and Deborah Jeanne Hamm, born April 7, 1948.
The Hamms belong to the Lutheran Church, and fraternally he is affiliated with the Masonic lodge. He is a member of the Farm Bureau. In politics he gives his support to the Democratic party. Four generations of the Hamm family have lived on the same farm since it was settled by Peter J. Hamm, grandfather of the subject of this sketch. John H. Hamm III represents the fourth generation.
