ROBERT JOSEPH DITTMER
Robert Dittmer, farmer and grain elevator operator at Lacona, was born on a farm about four and one-half miles northeast of Lacona Sept. 25, 1914. He is a son of John and Anna (Wadle) Dittmer.
Jan. 14, 1936, Robert Dittmer married Margaret E. Schurman, daughter of Frank and Susan (Heinen) Schurman. Mrs. Dittmer was born on a farm about six miles northeast of Lacona March 10, 1915. The Dittmers have eight children: Franklin J., born Dec. 18, 1936; Germain J., born Jan. 25, 1939; Mary Louise, born March 21, 1941; Lola Ann, born March 1, 1943; Debris, born Sept. 19, 1944; Roberta, born Sept. 20, 1946; Michael, born March 28, 1949; Wendell, born Dec. 26, 1950.
Mr. Dittmer is a member of the Catholic church. He is a director of the Lacona Oil company. He is a member of the Farm Bureau, and is leader of the White Breast Warriors 4-H club. Mr. Dittmer lives on a 95-acre farm in the west part of Lacona, and owns and operates the Robert Dittmer Grain elevator at Lacona.
