MARY BLAKE COX
In the book, History of Warren County Iowa, by Gerard Schultz and Don L. Berry, 1953, there is a dedication page at the beginning with a photo of Mary Blake Cox. The inscription states that Mary was a great-grandmother of one of the authors and this book was dedicated to her because she was a typical pioneer mother who made Warren County, Iowa. She was born in Maryland in 1806, came to Otter Township in 1848, lost her husband within a few weeks, managed her farm, reared her family to be good citizens, and, by her courage, industry, integrity, wit, love and faith in God, was a blessing to all who knew her. She lived until 1888.
