KENNETH M. BISHOP
Kenneth M. Bishop, president and general manager of the Bishop Manufacturing company at Carlisle, was born on a farm near Mitchellville, Iowa, Feb. 6, 1912, the son of Carl E. and Bertha A. (Rice) Bishop. He received his formal education in the elementary and high school of Mitchellville.
Oct. 12, 1941, K. M. Bishop married Edna Adams, daughter of M r. and Mrs. E. L. Adams o f Woodbine, Iowa. A son, James Marvin, was born to this mar riage Feb. 16, 1948, and died Feb. 17, 1948. From 1930 to 1941 Mr. Bishop was employed by the Rollins Hosiery mills of Des Moines, Iowa. During this time he also worked in the fabrication and installation of boilers and heating equipment as a side line. During World War II he worked at naval bases in California, where he supervised the installation of powerhouses and similar projects.
In April, 1946, immediately after he returned to Iowa from the west coast, Mr. Bishop organized the Bishop Manufacturing company of Carlisle, Iowa. In January, 1947, he rented a small space in the back of what was then the De-Camp garage and with the help of one employee began the manufacture of boilers. From this small beginning the company has rapidly expanded at Carlisle and an additional plant has been established at Clarinda, Iowa. The Bishop Manufacturing company is an important factor in the growth of Carlisle. Mr. Bishop has shown himself to be an alert, progressive and successful businessman. Address: Carlisle, Iowa.
