[In Sep 1885, residents in Warren County were not happy with the Republican controlled county officials and formed a People’s County Convention to nominate county officials on a People’s County ticket. The following “biographical” information was written for those candidates]
Howard A. Huff, the nominee for Surveyor, is too well known to the people to need more than a passing mention. The office yields but little remuneration, and yet is one of considerable importance, and one withal, requiring somewhat rare qualifications. Mr. Huff is a practical surveyor, and by nature, by education and by long practice a fine mathematician, a great essential in this office. [Howard A. Huff and his wife, Ann Elizabeth Huff, are buried in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, Finney County, Kansas.]
