Solomon Hodson (1829-1895)

Solomon Hodson was born September 16, 1829 in Indiana to Thomas and Anna (Baldwin) Hodson. He grew up in Indiana and married Hannah Ogle in Henry County, Indiana on November 24, 1849. Hannah and Solomon had seven children. Two children, Sarah Amanda and Ralph were born in Indiana, while five children, Lewis C., Luther, Charles S., Effie B., and Uriah B., were born in Iowa. The family moved to Iowa between 1856 and 1859. Solomon worked as a nurseryman in Marshall and Warren County when they first came to Iowa. Solomon became Warren County Auditor from 1887 to 1891. He died August 18, 1895, at 65 years of age, and is buried in Ackworth Cemetery, Warren County, Iowa. Hannah was born Oct 17, 1830 in Indiana and died February 26, 1913, at rest beside Solomon in Ackworth Cemetery.
