The Ottumwa Public Library maintains an index of birth, marriage, death notices and obituaries that appeared in the "Ottumwa Daily Courier". The wonderful person or group of persons who did the index completed it for the years of abt 1890 to 1915 (there are some periods missing). The index is also available in the research library of the Wapello County Genealogical Society. The advantage the public library has is that it also maintains microfilms of the "Courier" and some other Ottumwa papers from 1870s to the present. Give the library a call and they will most likely look in the indexes for you.
