I'm not sure about your Casper, but my great great grandfather John Smith was from Wapello County Eldon Ia and Batavia and Agency area's. We think his father was a William Smith and I know for sure my great grandmother was Indian. My Aunt said she was Cherokee.

My John Smith (family legend) verified by an article in the Ottumwa newspaper- shot and killed the Sheriff and was hung from the lamp post in front of the court house in Ottumwa by a mob. My great great grandmother Mary Slater Smith
then married a man by the name of Winters. Mr Winters did not like any of her children ( 2). Mr Great grandmother Cora Ann went to live and wait on a Dr's Family in Eldon because Mt Winters didn't want anything to do with her. She Married James Blachley in Eldon Iowa.

What can you tell me about the Smith's and their Indian ancestry?
