Donald R. “Jim” Harness, 67, 751 Riverside Lane, died 7:20 p.m. Jan. 24, 1987, at his home. He was born May 4, 1919, in Webster to Joseph and Margaret Laughlin Harness. An Ottumwa High School graduate, he worked for 41 years as a Rock Island Railroad conductor; served iii U.S. Army during World War II; attended Trinity Church of the Nazarene; and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He lived on a farm near Selma until moving to Ottumwa in 1985. He married Faye Beebout Sisco on Jan. 22, 1970, in Kirksville, Mo. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Donald Jr. of Eldon, Mark of Longview, Texas; a daughter, Kris Heise of Ocala, Fla.; two step-sons, David Sisco of Ottumwa and James Will of West Union; five grandchildren; a step-grandson; five brothers, Bill, Fred and Bob of Ottumwa, Ronald of Moline, 111., and Clarence of Garland, Texas; and two sisters, Betty Grace and Evelyn Lanning of Ottuwma. The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Church of the Nazarene, the Rev. Paul Miller officiating. Memorials may be made to hospice of Wapello County or Eldon Rescue Unit and sent in care of Donald Harness Jr., Box 354, Eldon, la.52554. Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds is in charge of arrangements.
