Hope you can help me out a little. I'm trying to trace my grandfather back to a family in Wapello county. His name is John Toohey (born abt. 1882). I have possible found him in the 1885 and 1895 Iowa census in this county. However I'm not sure it's him. I have found several pieces of information that lead me to believe this is his family but i'd like to make a few more "connection" to be sure. He moved to North Dakota in his late teens and married and died there. What I'm looking for in any reference to him in the marriage or death records of the family he left behind. His parents were possibly Cornelius and Margaret Toohey From what I can tell Cornelius was born abt. 1839 and Margaret abt. 1843 in Ireland. They both died there in Wapello county and are buried in the Catholic cemetery in Eddyville. Cornelius died 5/12/1904 and Margaret 9/27/1922. He also had at least 3 sisters who married and lived in the area but now we are getting into too many names and lookups. I'm hoping possible the records of his parents death may hold some information.
Any information you can locate that may mention they had a son in North Dakota would be of great help.
