MILLER, HURR, BOND

I am trying to find some information on my Miller line. My mom's birth mother was Lois Miller, daughter of Floyd O. Miller and Ida C. Hurr. She became pregnant with my mother in 1936 and was sent to California to live with an Aunt until she delivered March 23, 1937. Then she returned to Ottumwa. Lois is no longer living and I am trying to find out some information. In my mom's adoption papers it said Lois was engaged to a Robert Bond and he left her when she got pregnant. I have not been able to confirm that story. I was hoping there might be something in the an old paper from 1936 that might have mentioned Lois' engagement or her trip to California. Please let me know if there is anyway to look this up. Thanks.
