I have checked most available records and cannot find a Samuel Ferguson or any of the others you mentioned in Wapello county. George left a pretty good footprint in the county. He appears in most census records, his marriage to Ida Parnell on 22 Dec 1880, and he appears in the WPA index as having died on 5 Jun 1937 and is buried in Ottumwa Cemetery.

If you have additional information that might be used to track Samuel any of the others would be most happy to look.
