MARY FRANCES HICKLIN was born February 17, 1852, near Wapello,Iowa, and died May 1st, 1924, aged 72 years, 2 months and 13 days. She was the daughter of JAMES H. and SARAH E. (WILLIAMS) HICKLIN. May 24, 1882, she was married to JOHN N HAINEY and to them three children were born, ELLA, CHESTER, and CLARA. Her husband died about thirty-two years ago. She was again married to HENRY BRIMMER, who died several years ago. She is survived by her son, CHESTER, fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three brother, MILLARD HICKLIN of Wapello,Iowa MARTHA ARCHIBALD of Chicago and AMANDA GALLAGER, of Wapello,Iowa.

She was the eldest daughter of one of the oldest pioneer families of Louisa County. Her grandfather, ROBERT WILLIAMS, came to this county in 1836 and built the first hose on Long Creek whis was later to be known as the "Reservation." This was the same year that "UNCLE "JIMMY" BLANCHARD settled on the farm now a part of the heins homestead. They were neighbors and warm personal friends. "AUNT" POLLY" BLANCHARD was a sister of her father so the families were very closely related by the ties of family and the mutual hardships of pioneer life. Being the eldest child in the family she bore, perhaps more than her full share of the burden. "AUNT" MARY was a good woman-the helper of others as well as the chief stay and support of her own household. Toil and troubler were her earthly lot. She cared for her own the best she could, bearing burdens that broke her heart, yet bravely enduring unto the end. She became a member of the Christian church in early life and cherished her faith and held fast her hope, though denied the opportunities of the more fortunate. Hers were indeed "the short and simple annals of the poor" yet now that she has gone away suddenly and unexpectedly her fortitued in trial, and who will cherish her memory.

The funeral was held at the home of her brother, Ed Hicklin, May 3rd, of Des Moines, Iowa, who is a 1924, conducted by Rev. Chas Blanchard. Burial was made in the wapello, iowa cemetery warm and personal friend of the family
