BATAVIA - Lettie M. Pumphrey, 93, Route 1, Eldon, died Wednesday afternoon at Ottumwa Regional Health Center, Ottumwa.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Campbell Funeral Chapel in Batavia with the Rev. Bill Huffman officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery. Order of Eastern Star will conduct a service at 7 this evening at the funeral chapel. Visitation is open. Memorials have been established to OES and to Mrs. Pumphrey's church.

Mrs. Pumphrey was born Sept. 18, 1893 in Wapello County near Bladensburg, the daughter of Richard and Clara Hill Williams. She spent most of her life in the Batavia area, where she taught school and taught piano lessons for many years. She was a lifetime member of OES, a member of the County Line Ladies Club and United Methodist Chruch, all of Batavia. She married Wilbur Pumphrey March 19, 1917 in Ottumwa. He died Dec. 15, 1976.

She is survived by a son, Richard, Batavia; three grandsons and six great-grandchildren.
